Privacy Policy

Short version

BlurMask collects no user data. It has no analytics, no accounts, no telemetry, and it communicates with no servers. Everything you do with it stays entirely on your computer.

What the extension stores, and where

• Your blur selections, presets, and settings — stored locally in your browser using its built-in extension storage (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device and is automatically removed when uninstalling the extension.
• Your license key (Pro) — stored locally so Pro features stay activated offline. It is never transmitted to any third party.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not read, record, or transmit the content of web pages you visit.
• We do not track browsing history, clicks, or usage events.
• We do not use analytics or third-party trackers.
• We do not create accounts or user profiles.

Payments (Pro)

Purchases are securely processed by our payment provider (Polar). Your license key is delivered by email. Payment details are handled entirely by the provider under their privacy policy — BlurMask never sees or stores your card information. The only data associated with your purchase is what the payment provider needs (typically your email address and order reference).

Permissions explanation

• Read and change data on all sites: required so you can blur content on any webpage you choose. BlurMask only modifies pages in response to your explicit actions and applies CSS blur styling — it does not send page content anywhere.
• Storage: saves your blurs, presets, settings, and license state locally on your machine.
• Context menus: adds the right-click "Blur Selected Text" and "Toggle Blur Inspector" shortcuts.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the change will be described here and in the extension's store listing before it takes effect.
